JEDEC Adopts Definitions of EE1002 and E1002A Serial Presence Detect EEPROM

Arlington, VA – February 20, 2007– JEDEC has approved the first release of a full device specification for the EE1002, a 256 KB EEPROM device commonly known for its use as the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) on all JEDEC standard DRAM modules. These SPDs contain configuration information about the memory module. The EE1002 devices offer software and hardware write protection mechanisms for the block of EEPROM used for configuration data, but also include a write enabled portion of the device which can be employed by the end user to contain customer specific data or maintain system error logs. These devices are widely available in the industry from a variety of suppliers.
